As part of the HOPE08 Maidstone campaign, Maidstone churches, in association with Maidstone Borough Council and Kent Police, are launching a Street Pastors Team in Maidstone.
Street Pastors is an Interdenominational Church response to neighborhood problems; engaging with people on the streets and in night-time venues to care, listen, dialogue and offer practical help. Street Pastors are already operating in a third of London boroughs, as well as in Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Leicester, Southend and Wrexham, and have seen significant reductions in street crime in those areas.
The core values of Street Pastors are:
Street Pastors
- The sacredness and sanctity of human life
- Valuing and honouring the community
- Being a person of integrity
- Taking personal responsibility
- The growth and development of the individual to their fullest potential
